2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 32,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 12 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Hilarious mistake on UKIP ad: “SAY NO TO THE UK”

Pride's Purge

(not satire – it’s the UKIP!)

Rotherham UKIP have (presumably) made a bit of a mistake on their advertisement wishing readers of the Rotherham Record a Merry Christmas:

UKIP page 1

Mind you, if you consider the UKIP would like to sell off everything in the UK, from healthcare to education – and for the UK to become another state of the US – you could say Rotherham branch were just being honest.

In fact, I liked their advert so much, I’ve managed to download a high quality image of it from the newspaper:

UKIP say no to UK

Big thanks to Chris Read for spotting this.

Please feel free to share. And comment.

Harassment by Work Programme Providers of the lowest form – UPDATE :-(

The abuses of work programme providers have been blogged many times before but I am sure many of you agree all abuses must be blogged time and time again until these providers leave those in the ESA Support Group alone and more so if they have a degenerative condition that has a terminal prognosis.

So with the above in mined I turn to one lady from Bristol who has terminal cancer at just 37 years old and has a life expectancy of 0 – 3 years so it is sad indeed that she can expect just half her life lived, she says in her facebook message that she has come to terms with what will happen (very brave indeed) but the short life left would be much better if she was not harassed by work programme provider Prospects Group @ProspectsGroup and I for one agree.

It is hard enough having to deal with a bombshell that has hit her and the health conditions that terminal illness throws at her without having the wrath of DWP and Work Providers at beck and call too.

She needs her family around her and her life filled with happiness and memories not some Govt and Work Provider totally devoid of any compassion and empathy.

Prospect Group leave her alone to live out her final years

Her Facebook Message is below:

I have terminal cancer, my prognosis is 0-3 years and I was diagnosed in March 2014 with my brain stem glioma. In April 2014 I was placed in the support group for 3 years and I have gone from being able-bodied to hopelessly disabled. I have many neurological deficits including diploplia, dyspraxia, dysarthria and dysphagia. To save you googling, this means that I have double vision and am going blind, I’m very clumsy and most days I drop everything I pick up, my speech is failing and one day I won’t be able to communicate verbally at all and I have such difficulty swallowing that I now have a feeding tube. I cannot leave the house alone and I’m at risk of choking and need 24 hour care. They speak of me going into residential care, but they hope to keep me in my own home for as long as possible. The trouble is degenerative, nothing will get better, only worse, the cancer can’t be cured. I’m 37.

Now. I can deal with all that. I’m alive! And I can still do stuff!! What I cannot deal with is that I am on the work programme!!! I received this letter today (too late to ring the WP) demanding I come to an appointment with the Work Programme on Tuesday or they’ll stop my benefits. HOW SICK DOES A PERSON HAVE TO BE BEFORE THE HARRASSMENT STOPS??

The letter is a bit ominous in nature and she did not realise until pointed out to her it was a telephone appointment letter and thought she had to go to the Bristol Office.

appointment letter

This treatment has to end it is not what this nation wants and is a further clear sign of Iain Duncan Smith’s broken Welfare Reforms as it is attacking the wrong citizens.

If you too agree that this is disgraceful you can add your name to the letter I have written to Ed Miliband in the hope of bringing about positive change in the next Government:

Despite our efforts to stop the harassment of this terminally ill lady it was not to be and that terminal illness has come to bear as she has sadly passed away, in my dealings with her in trying to get this letter petition together I found her to be a fighter to the end and very brave in the face of adversity.

She with the help of her family has left a message below with a link to her donation page:

“Dear Friendlings Don’t be spooked now, my cousin Chris, sisters Lis and Lucie, brother Jago and my Mum are writing this for me because I had to leave you all last week as you know. Sorry to go missing from here too for a while. My family have had a few things to do and wanted to get things right for me before informing you all of what’s happening.

My bash will be on Monday 16th March at 1.30 at Mendip Crematorium near Wells. You can google it to get directions because it’s not easy to find being up by the Glasto festival site and all.

Now I don’t want you spending your hard earned cash on flowers because I’ll have plenty of those from my family. If you want to bring me a rose and write me a message there will be a time and place for you to give those to me and I think I’d really like that. Nothing too ostentatious mind. You know I don’t do that stuff.

Cousin Chris has been getting a collection going for my charity of Caring in Bristol. If you want to donate and leave a message for me just go to justgiving.com/Lotte-Ryan and all will be revealed.

Share lots of happy memories and thoughts of me on this page, no arguing with anyone now or doing any naughty stuff. I’ve been hearing things (tut) and don’t forget to download any photies you may want to keep.

I love you all dear friendlings. My diary of a Mong is over. My journey is ended and I am at peace. Lottekins”

I am beside myself at the moment because the treatment she was handed under Camerons Govt was totally unjust and unfair when she should have been left in peace to spend her last days with her family and loved ones.

The only good thing now is the harassment she received from DWP and the work provider has now come to an end.

Rest in Peace Lottie

DWP Admit one metre rule for PIP is “Unfounded”

Anyone dealing with an incorrect mobility award for PIP – Take Note:

A FOI request has revealed the DWP admit the One Metre Rule is  unfounded and  agree ” it is time to review this figure” .

Read the full response below:

In your DLA1A Adult January 2014 form, titled Disability Living Allowance Notes, on page 10
question, 26 titled: Getting around outdoors:

You state: ‘the average adult step is just under one meter.’

I would like to be provided with the source of this statement.

Thank you for contacting us and bringing this to our attention.

Information published online quotes: ‘The average person’s stride length is approximately 2.5
feet long, although this is dependent on age and health. It’s difficult to find a source of this
information which is typically quoted without reference.’

Investigations show that we have used this figure for many years and it has not been reviewed

ESA Newsflash!!! WRAG To Support Group!!!

Same Difference

Spotted on Facebook. Sharing because it might be useful for some readers.

Attended an ESA, WRAG appeal today, for the purpose of using Reg 35a ESA Regulations 2008. In regard that making someone attend a work based interview, would put that person or members of public at risk.

Case was adjourned. Currently the DWP have applied to 2nd Tier Tribunal using Reg 26(4a), regarding that the Tribunal service are asking for more evidence to overturn DWP decisions, which the DWP are appealing is Errors of Law,from the Tribunal asking for more evidence to make judgements. 2nd Tier Tribunal have kept the ruling and DWP have now appealed to Appeal Court over these rulings.

Basically what this means. Is if you are currently going to Tribunal or appealing where Reg 35a is to be used, your case will be adjourned. The Judge today…

When you see news about US torture, remember this

The news at the moment is full of the ‘revelation’ that the ‘enhanced (or coercive) interrogation’ techniques used by the CIA on so-called ‘enemy combatants’ amounted to torture.

These techniques, including waterboarding, extreme sleep-deprivation and forcing people into contorted ‘stress positions’ for hours on end, were devised by a US psychologist who has been called a ‘torture guru’.

When you see these reports, remember this: psychologically-coercive techniques devised by this same individual and his team have been forced upon British benefit claimants at the behest of David Cameron’s ‘Nudge Unit’, via a bogus ‘psychometric test’ that they had to take or else lose their benefits.

Remember this, too: the DWP’s abuse of claimants using this test was so unethical that the ‘torture guru’s organisation objected to its use – use that they had never authorised in the first place: the Nudge Unit had basically stolen parts of the material and…

Shock New Figures: UK Spends Less On Healthcare, Benefits and Pensions Per Head Than Any Other Northern European Country

the void

social-protection-spendingThe UK spends less on social security benefits, pensions and healthcare combined per head than any other northern European country figures released by the Office for National Statistics reveal.

In news which has sent the Daily Mail spinning out of control, the UK’s spending on ‘social protection’ is lower than France, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland and in fact every country in Northern Europe, as well as Italy.  These figures are based on spending per person from 2012, before many of the benefit cuts were implemented.  With even more savage cuts to social security threatened, then the UK could soon slip even further down the ranking behind the beleagured economies of Greece and Spain.

Social protection covers a wide range of spending including benefits, pensions, healthcare and social exclusion.  In a worrying trend the Daily Mail has decided to lump all thse vital services under the banner of ‘welfare’ suggesting…

What Lies Behind The Archbishop’s Demand For State Run Foodbanks Is Every Bit As Nasty As Iain Duncan Smith

the void

archbishop-welby Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby. Dressed like a tit as usual.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will launch a report in parliament this week which calls on the government to fund the growing network of foodbanks – many of which are coincidentally run by churches. This is his toxic solution to the growing hunger crisis which has emerged after the string of vindictive and bungled welfare reforms implemented by Iain Duncan Smith.

It is shameful that so many people are now dependent on foodbanks just to be able to feed their children, but to enshrine this charity within the social security system would be a disaster.  What poor people need is more money, not more foodbanks.  This is just common  sense.  But you won’t hear calls for an end to vicious cuts to social security from the clowns behind Welby’s report.

One of the authors of the report is…

SO, The Archbishop offers platitudes to Mail Readers

As usual just half sound bites with little if any action

Apologies in advance to any protestant Christians.

I’m Livid, the bloody Eton schooled Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has finally spoke up on people going hungry here in the UK ; so what does he do, writes in the Mail on Sunday. He use this space to preach about bigger foodbanks, a rise in the minimum wage, free school meals all year round and making it harder to sanction benefit recipients.

I admit as an atheist, I think the only point of Churches are as Historical buildings, linked to a time of blind obedience to a richer man; and the sanctimonious drivel from Welby  has not changed my opinion.

If this man was really worried about the poorer people

  • he’d be leading an inquiry into WHY we need Foodbanks not talking of expending them
  • he’d be campaigning for a decent Living Wage not a mere increase of the minimum;
  • he’d by demanding to…
